Welcome!
The 360° Graduate Student Development Initiative offers a diverse range of events, workshops and courses, which provide critical communication, writing, teaching and professionals skills to graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
The objectives of the 360° Initiative are to enable new scholars to disseminate their research, teach effectively and collaborate successfully, and to provide preparation that facilitates successful transitions to careers both inside and outside of academia. The goal of graduate education is to transform students into scholars and professionals in their disciplines. Each stage of graduate education requires unique skills from students. The 360° programs are designed to provide graduate students with the knowledge, skills and mentoring they need to succeed at each stage of the graduate journey, from coursework through comprehensive exams, thesis writing and publishing to the academic and non-academic job search after graduation. The programs complement the disciplinary preparation that students receive in their departments through coursework, research, conference participation and interaction with faculty and peers.
The 360° Graduate Student Professional Development Initiative is the result of campus wide collaboration between the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, the Teaching Support Centre, Student Development Services, Western Libraries, the Career Centre, Communications and Public Affairs, the Faculties and many other colleagues across campus.
