Graduate Fellowship (GF)
Graduate Fellowships (GF) contribute to the financial support package for students in research-based graduate programs. A GF is supported by a supervisor’s research grant and provides funding for a student undertaking research or scholarly activities directly related to their thesis work. While these activities commonly align with the supervisor’s research or scholarly interests, such alignment is not a requirement. A student’s participation in employment-based activities such as Graduate Student Assistantship is not eligible for Graduate Fellowship.

Eligibility
Graduate students must be registered full-time and meet the graduate program's conditions for progression toward their degree.
The fellowship is not transferable to another program.
If a graduate student completes their degree or withdraws, this support may be subject to repayment or pro-rating for the remainder of the term.
Value
GF amounts are determined by the student's graduate program.
Taxes and Deductions
There are no deductions associated with GF. Students are issued a T4A for tax purposes.
Method of Payment
GF is allocated through a graduate student's Student Center Account and is typically administered at the start of the term.

GF amounts are detailed annually through a graduate student's Mercury funding plan, which is provided through their Graduate Student Web Services Portal.
