SGPS 9101: Design-Driven Innovation

The Design-Driven Innovation course will develop graduate students skills in design thinking, innovation and teamwork. Students will participate in seminars and two group projects that will highlight and enhance their research capabilities to address practical and current real-world problems. The course is open to all disciplines. Indeed, you will work in teams with people from different programs. By the end of the course, you will have two practical examples of how your academic, research and life experience can be applied to the solution of challenging, multidisciplinary problems.

Recommended Audience:

  • Graduate students in Engineering

What to Expect: 

  • Students will work in interdisciplinary teams to devise a solution to problems using the design thinking methodology
  • The course will appear on the transcripts of enrolled students with a Pass/Fail notation but will not affect the student’s academic average
  • The course may count towards degree program course requirements with permission from the student’s department
