Master of Physical Therapy (MPT)
The professors have been great not only in class, but in helping to further our understanding of content outside of classes; however, my peers are the people who push me, and make me want to be a successful clinician. They’re an amazing group of people that I’m glad to be a part of a cohort with.
What one thing would you like people to know about you?
I love to hear stories, and if you have a great story about literally anything, I’m all ears. I think everyone has unique experiences, and I love to meet new people and get to know what they’ve experienced during their life.
How do you de-stress?
Basketball is my therapy, shooting around in an empty gym is therapeutic to me. It’s me, the ball, the net, and nothing else in the world can bother me during that time.
Where’s your favourite place on campus to work?
Elborn College is always a favourite, it’s a building PT students can call their own. But sometimes the Ivey building is a nice getaway.
What’s the best advice you could give to someone considering applying to your graduate program?
Try and get as much experience as you can! Physiotherapy is a very hands-on career, and I think both for interest and for application purposes, getting exposure to the field is the best thing prospective students can do.
The Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) degree is awarded upon successful completion of a two-year curriculum, over six consecutive terms, which includes 60 weeks of classroom/laboratory work and 30 weeks of clinical experience.

Admission Requirements
- Four year bachelor's degree from a recognized university (minimum four academic years in length.)
English Language Proficiency
Applicants whose first language is not English must furnish evidence of their proficiency in the use of the English language:
- The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Minimum acceptable score is 5.5. [Western's TOEFL ID is 0984].
- The International English Language Testing Service (IELTS Academic). A minimum overall score of 7.5 in both the overall and writing section is required.
- The Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL Assessment). A minimum score of 80 is required.
- The Doulingo English Test. The minimum Duolingo English Test score is 135.
