Every calendar year, graduate students are issued one or more tax receipts based on their role(s) at Western. Students must submit these receipts when filing their annual tax return with the Canada Revenue Agency.

T2202 -- For Tuition Paid

T2202s are tuition tax receipts issued to all students for tuition related to the calendar year. These show the amount of tuition that can be deducted for income tax purposes, as well as the number of months eligible for the education deduction, if applicable.

These receipts are provided through an online service on Student Center, which allows you to view your T2202 - Tuition and Education Amounts Certificate(s) from Taxation year 2000 and onwards. Once logged into Student Center, click Student Financials > Taxes > My T2202 Slips to view your T2202 tax receipts.

The T2202 tax receipt for 2022 will be available by February 28.

For Student Center questions, please visit the Office of the Registrar website or phone 519-661-2100.

T2200S -- Working from Home Deductions

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, some employees have temporarily shifted to a "work from home" environment at the request or permission of the University and may be considering whether to deduct certain home office expenses for work spaces and home office supplies on 2020, 2021 or 2022 personal income tax returns.

The University is issuing a T2200S form for all employees who received employment income from Western and were required by the University, either through written or verbal communication, to work from home in 2020, 2021, or 2022.

For more information, please visit the HR website or phone 519-661-2194.
